Notes on the use of disposable gloves

Wearing disposable gloves can reduce the chances of patients getting germs, and the health care workers themselves can also get health protection, and it can even be said that wearing gloves can reduce the chances of health care workers' families and friends being exposed to germs. Because health care workers do not wear gloves and carry drug-resistant bacteria, through contact with the hands of health care workers, the bacteria can cross-parasitize among patients, causing the spread of drug-resistant strains. This leads to another transmission between communities (i.e., between contacts) through the transfer of the host patient. Therefore, health care workers wear disposable gloves primarily to prevent the spread of bacteria, thereby protecting the patient, themselves, and other contacts. What follows is an introduction to the precautions for disposable glove use.

Here is the content list:

  • Timely replacement

  • Disinfection treatment

  • Storage

Timely replacement

Disposable gloves have a limited life span. Generally, gloves need to be replaced more than once every 90 minutes during surgery to prevent damage to the medical disposable gloves. However, gloves need to be changed immediately if

After completing a patient examination, develop the habit of discarding hospital disposable gloves and change the habit of wearing gloves to touch computers, cell phones, documents, etc.

If surgical disposable gloves come into contact with areas that may be contaminated with pathogens, it is recommended to change to a clean pair of gloves for operation if a follow-up examination or contact with clean areas is required.

When disposable gloves come into contact with patient blood or body fluids, they need to be changed immediately in order to avoid cross-contamination with patients who are subsequently seen.

Changing disposable gloves in a timely manner may seem like a small initiative, but it is effective in reducing the incidence of infectious diseases and is a matter of concern for the health of both physicians and patients.

Disinfection treatment

Used disposable gloves should be taken off immediately and soaked in a disinfectant solution for 30min. The front side of the glove should be turned over while soaking. Because the reverse side is often outside when the gloves are taken off, they do not play a role in decontamination and sterilization. As disposable gloves are lighter, they generally float on the surface of the liquid and should be submerged in the disinfectant solution with items under pressure.

Storage

After the soaked gloves are washed and dried, check for damage, the damaged ones cannot be used again, check whether both hands are the same size on the talcum powder, and then put them in the glove bag and store them in the sterile room after sterilization. Now there are disposable medical sterilization latex gloves on the medical market, the shell with paper packaging, such gloves also need to be disinfected after use as medical waste disposal, can not just be discarded.
